Spot it!

Maths Week 2

Tasks have been set on MyMaths, these will be updated weekly but monitored daily.

English Week 2

The school have purchased phonics workbooks 1,2, and 3 for each child.

This week I would like the children to look at the sounds ‘ew’ ‘ou’ ‘ir’ ‘aw’ and tricky words ‘have’ ‘like’ ‘some’ ‘come’

There are some fun games on phonics play to support the sounds each week. Please select the sounds for each day.

If you would like to know your child’s reading level for this website, please email me and I can send you the information individually.

Parents can further support their children with their reading through:

Click on the link below to listen to the traditional tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood’

Activity 1

Watch the story up to the point where little red riding hood meets the wolf in the woods.

Write down what Little Red Riding Hood’s Mum said to her. Remember to use speech marks.

e.g “Little Red Riding Hood you must go straight to Grandma’s house.” Said her Mum.

Next write down what the wolf said to Little Red Riding Hood in the woods.

eg “Good morning, where are you going today?” Said the Wolf.

Now write down what Little Red Riding Hood said back to the wolf.

Eg “ My Grandma is ill so I am taking her some cake and honey.” Said Little Red Riding Hood.

Activity 2

Watch the story ‘ Little Red Riding Hood’ Can you write three sentences that explain what happened when the wolf arrived at Grandmas house?

eg The wolf opened the door and chased Grandma out of bed. Then he put on Grandma’s clothes and got into her bed. He waited for Little Red Riding Hood to arrive.

Activity 3

Write down the conversation between Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. Revisit the speech mark cartoon to help you remember how to punctuate speech.


“Grandma, what big eyes you have.” Said Little Red Riding Hood.

“All the better for seeing you my dear.” Growled the wolf.

Activity 4

Write three sentences that explain what happened at the end of the story.

eg The wolf chased after Little Red Riding Hood. The woodcutter heard her scream and chased the wolf into the mountains. The wolf was never seen again. They lived happily ever after.

Religious Education Weeks 1 and 2

Week 1

Lent is a time and opportunity to change. Lent is a time for growing in love and kindness.

Watch the short film about the puppy and the bird.

How did they show kindness and love towards each other?

How can we grow in kindness?

Have a chat about this with your family.

Write or draw a picture about how you will grow in kindness.

Week 2

Can you think of a time when you were unkind or hurtful to someone else?

What could you have done differently?

Draw a picture of one of these scenarios;

  1. A group of people laughing at someone who has fallen over.
  2. A group of people leaving someone out.
  3. Someone saying something hurtful to someone.
  4. Taking something that isn’t theirs.

Now discuss or write a sentence explaining how you could make it better and show kindness towards others.
