Art and Design

Our high-quality art and design curriculum engages, inspires and challenges our children. Our aim is to equip them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As children progress through school, they will develop the ability to think critically and know how art and design reflects and shapes our history.

Intent

Our intent document shows progression in art and design across the school.

Impact

This school has pupils who are inspired and challenged. They have knowledge and skills and are confident in creating works of art. They know how art and design has shaped our history and reflects our society today.

We asses pupils formatively during and summatively after each theme. The development of skills can be seen clearly in the art work books. We return to key aspects of learning regularly through art meetings to ensure that it comes back to children’s working memories.

We collect assessment information after each theme and this is evaluated by the Art Lead.
