I am now able to update you on the Multi Academy Trust proposals that were originally outlined at a meeting of 1st May 2019. A great deal of work has been going on in the background since then, and this has taken time
In the Autumn Term, the Bishop appointed a Steering Group of Trustees to work alongside the officers of the Schools’ Department to look at this matter in detail. The work of this group has taken a number of months as there were many aspects to consider.
As a Diocese, we remain committed to the vision of one Multi Academy Trust – it will safeguard the future of Catholic education in our Diocese and there are many benefits that will flow as a result. In moving in this direction, it is also clear that it is very important to maintain subsidiarity, and develop an appropriate Scheme of Delegation.
A MAT Development Group has been appointed to support this work. The membership of the MAT Development Group will comprise individuals with expertise and experience in school leadership, governance and finance. I would ask that you share this letter and accompanying document with your governors and staff to keep them informed of this development.
Please continue to keep this project, and all those who are involved in any way in our schools, in your prayers, as we continue this journey.
Please see below the initial letter to parents regarding the new trust.
