Please aim to complete atleast one lesson / reading comprehension task a week.
Bedrock learning is a great assessment tool which identifies vocabulary that your child is secure with, developing and does not know. Once the initial assessment is complete, your child can access a series of lessons. Please note that lessons should not be rushed through and completed all in one go. If children are completing too many lessons in quick concession, they will be made to wait 24 hours before accessing the next lesson in the sequence.

Headstart spellings: Children have been sent home with a full pack. If they misplace their spellings, please contact Mr Hayden on the email above or leave a note in their planners. Thank you.
Parents can further support their children with their reading through:
Predicting – What do they think this text is about?
Clarify – What new vocabulary have they experienced? Meaning?
Question – What would they still like to know?
Summary – In their words, what is the text about?
Headstart spellings to continue as normal following the Headstart Spelling guide.
Wider Curriculum
Our theme this term is Festivals.
During this theme children will be introduced to celebrations which include sporting and musical events, healthy lifestyles, residential experiences and environmental issues. They will have opportunities to explore their own talents and celebrate the talents of others which impact on individual liberty.
What this looks like in Y4: children will be making links where possible to the celebration of a festival:
• We will link PE, DT and The Journey in Love (PSHE) by exploring healthy lifestyles and positive mind sets – diet and exercise.
• We will link Computing and Art through our creativity and talents, celebrating the talented Victorian artist William Morris in art.
• We will link Music and Science to the art of music.
• We will link RE to the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection and how Y4 are preparing to receive the Holy Spirit.
• We will link MFL and Geography/History through the discussion of different cultures and how they celebrate festivals all over the world. We will compare and contrast these events with the UK’s celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee celebration.
Online safety:
With children spending more of their independent time online, it is important that they work through the online safetfy module to keep them safe when accessing the internet.
