Outdoor Learning
We use Outdoor Learning as a driver across the curriculum within subjects such as science, history, geography and PSHE. These are not stand alone lessons but link into the learning intentions which is are developed by the class teacher.
For example during the Communities theme Y2 were looking at why people settled in Worksop. The children were taken to explore a stretch of canal in Worksop.
The Outdoor Learning specialist works across the school from EYFS – Y6.
Vision
Outdoor Education at Holy Family Catholic Primary School offers all children opportunities to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment.
When we learn outside we:
- are equal and successful
- explore and discover
- take appropriate risk and challenge ourselves
- make choices and drive our own learning
- develop positive relationships with ourselves and other people
- develop a strong, positive relationship with our world

Sports Day
It was great to see so many parents back in school to support our children during sports day. It was a very hot day and the children still competed to the highest standard.
The Foundation units visit to White Post Farm
The children from Foundation enjoyed a very sunny day out to White Post Farm, where they got to feed the larger animals and hold the smaller ones. They all had a great day.
Fun Fridays
Fun Fridays began today with a Wheelathon. We could not have asked for a better day with the sun shinning and so many happy children. Looking forward to next weeks activity already.
Young Voices
The choir had a great evening performing at Young Voices in Sheffield. Well done children you were all amazing.
