Did you know that there are hundreds of children living in Nottinghamshire that may be Young Carers.

A young carer is a child or teenager who helps look after someone in their family who is ill, disabled, struggling with mental health, or affected by addiction.

This care might include practical tasks like cooking, cleaning, or helping with medication, as well as emotional support such as comforting or keeping someone company.

Many parents don’t realise their child is a young carer because helping out can seem like a normal part of family life. However, when a child regularly takes on responsibilities that affect their time, energy, schoolwork, or wellbeing, they may need extra support.

Recognising this early can help families access support services, giving both the child and parent the help they need to feel less overwhelmed and better supported.

There is lots of amazing support for children aged 5-17. If you think your child or someone you know would benefit from some of the support and activities, please use the information on the attached poster.
